The majority of respondents (73%) reported that the use of LMSs has increased in the past two years, proving that its usage is growing rather than stagnating.
This is understandable, considering the report indicated that respondents rely on many of the fundamental features that their LMS provides. Delivering e-learning was named the top capability by nearly three-quarters of respondents (76 percent).
The majority of respondents said their LMS was also used to handle enrollments (71%) and track learner activity (66 percent).
Many LMSs include features that go beyond the basics. On-demand access to learning content is the most popular additional capability firms use through their LMS, according to seven out of ten respondents.
Another popular enhancement was the ability to organize courses or activities into groups based on subjects or competencies. Microlearning and learning routes were also frequently employed to improve capacities.

However, just because the LMS is widely used does not mean it is without flaws. When questioned about the challenges they have in using their LMS efficiently, four out of ten respondents claimed they don’t have enough time to study.
A third of respondents claimed their LMS’s restricted capabilities did not satisfy their organization’s needs, and a comparable number said their LMS’ data capabilities were inadequate.
Employee ease of use (such as user interface difficulties) and the inability to integrate data with other enterprise systems was also mentioned as hurdles by respondents.
